How to Easily Migrate from SharePoint 2007, 2010, or 2013 to 2019

If you are one of the many businesses that are still using SharePoint 2007, 2010, or 2013, you may be wondering if it is time to upgrade to SharePoint 2019. The answer is most likely yes – especially if you are looking for new features and a better user experience. The newest SharePoint is considered modern SharePoint. This new modern SharePoint was built to be part of SharePoint Online in Office 365. It is a better version of SharePoint because it’s easier to use and faster than the original, while also being optimized for mobility. In this blog post, we will discuss how to easily migrate from SharePoint 2007, 2010, or 2013 to 2019. We will also provide tips on what to do before and after the migration process. Let’s get started!

Before the Migration

There are a few things to keep in mind before you begin the migration process. First, make sure that you have a backup of your SharePoint site. This is just in case something goes wrong during the migration process. Second, create a test environment where you can try out the new SharePoint 2019 features before migrating your entire site. This will help ensure a smooth transition for your users. Finally, make sure to communicate with your users throughout the process so they are aware of what is happening and when they can expect the new site to be up and running.

 Ways of Migration

Now that you are ready to begin, there are two main ways to migrate from SharePoint 2007, 2010, or 2013 to 2019: manual or automatic. If you choose the manual migration option, you will need to export your data from the old SharePoint site and then import it into the new one. This option can be time-consuming, but it does give you more control over the process. The automatic migration option is typically faster and easier, but it may not always be an option depending on your current setup. Fortunately, Katpro Technologies is familiar with this process and have SharePoint consultants on our team so you don’t have to do this process yourself.

 Manual Migration

Once you have chosen a method, it is time to start the actual migration process. If you are doing a manual migration, you will first need to export your data from the old SharePoint site. You can do this using the Export-SPWeb cmdlet. Once your data is exported, you will need to create a new site in SharePoint 2019 and then import the data. To do this, you can use the Import-SPWeb cmdlet.

 Automatic Migration

If you are doing an automatic migration, you will need to use a tool such as ShareGate or Metalogix. These tools will help you migrate your data from the old SharePoint site to the new one. Once the migration is complete, you can then delete the old SharePoint site.

That’s it! You have now successfully migrated from SharePoint 2007, 2010, or 2013 to 2019. Be sure to communicate with your users throughout the process so they are aware of what is happening and when they can expect the new site to be up and running.
